Few problems in the world are crossing national borders and cultures as much as the discrimination of females*. As gender inequalities of the physical world are replicated in the digital world, disparities based on gender in access to and use of digital technologies exist. The digital gender gap encompasses several dimensions, including eg. digital literacy, online safety and representation, and has to be considered intersectional taking into account other socio-demographic aspects such as education, profession, age, etc. The digital gender gap has significant social and economic consequences, as it limits female* individuals. In order to close this gap, we need to rethink gender roles especially within the digital world.
